What Sentiment Pulse is
Kilwa Sentiment Pulse is a multilingual market sentiment engine. It analyses risk, tone, policy shifts and leadership signals across English, French, Arabic and Swahili sources, processing each in its original language rather than translating into English first.
Most sentiment infrastructure reads English. A great deal of what moves African markets is never written in it. Policy feeds from the EAC, COMESA and IGAD publish in French. Gulf investor sentiment on African infrastructure moves in Arabic. Regional commercial reporting across East Africa runs in Swahili.
Sentiment Pulse processes all four languages simultaneously rather than translating into English first, which is where nuance in policy language is most reliably lost.
This is the input that surfaced Gulf sovereign wealth interest in East African infrastructure a quarter before it appeared in consensus FDI forecasts.
Capabilities
Cross-lingual embeddings
Transformer models fine-tuned with triplet loss on a purpose-built corpus of African financial news, so ‘inflationary pressure’ and ‘pression inflationniste’ sit close together in vector space rather than being translated and flattened first.
Four languages, natively
English, French, Arabic and Swahili processed simultaneously, not translated first.
Policy and leadership signals
Tone, policy shifts and leadership change tracked as distinct signal types.
Regional media coverage
Trained on region-specific sources rather than global wire copy about the region.
Feeds ISI and METI
Sentiment is an input to the scores, not a separate dashboard to reconcile.
