The published reads
Where Nigeria sits, on two reads.
Atlas No. 5 quadrant
Clears both bars. The core three are sized on structure and built to target weight through 2026; the other ten are timing-led and held in instruments that can leave, inside NDF tenor.
Minerals Signal No. 1 · 14 September 2026
Real potential constrained by access, governance or security. Not one of the ten deep dives, so the continental-screen tier is its Minerals Signal read.
Energy Signal No. 1 · 7 September 2026
Suitability 47, timing 51, against sixteen-market medians of 48.2 and 55.8.
Reads run 0 to 100, higher is better, and split at each report’s published medians. They are structured rankings built from cited series and dated events, not validated predictive models, and none of them is ISI or METI, which remain in independent validation.

World Bank figures are the most recent observation in the World Development Indicators, shown with their year; IMF figures are from the World Economic Outlook (April 2026) and are the IMF’s estimates and projections, not Kilwa’s. Both are reproduced with attribution (World Bank data under CC BY 4.0). Rows without a recent observation say so rather than disappearing, so the ten rows read the same on every market page.

Structural tier · Watch
Continental screen, 54 markets
Real potential constrained by access, governance or security.
- Energy Signal No. 1 · 7 September 2026African Energy 2026
Quadrant · Weak structure, weak timingsuitability 47 · timing 51
Segment trades only: Nigerian and Kenyan distributed solar, Kenyan import wheeling. Kenya is 0.1 under the suitability cutoff and Ghana 1.6; nobody should trade on a quadrant boundary.
- Kilwa Atlas No. 5 · 4 September 2026Kilwa Atlas No. 5: Africa Capital Allocation Outlook 2026–2029
Quadrant · High convictionstructure 53.1 · timing 83.1
Clears both bars. The core three are sized on structure and built to target weight through 2026; the other ten are timing-led and held in instruments that can leave, inside NDF tenor.
- Kilwa Atlas No. 4 · 4 September 2026Kilwa Atlas No. 4: Policy to Profit — Regulatory Execution and Market Entry
Execution gap · Material
Ethiopia's largest opening is a licence not yet issued. Nigeria enforces and then changes the terms, so its gap is volatility: size to the reversal, not the rule. Tanzania reads on a thin sample.
- Kilwa Atlas No. 3 · 4 September 2026Kilwa Atlas No. 3: Africa FX, Funding and Capital Mobility
Exit regime · Priced exit
Capital leaves at a market price and pays through the policy rate. Hold with a hedge ratio sized to a 25% gap-down, sweep distributions quarterly, and treat Q4 2026 maturities as one window. Offshore NDFs are the proxy, and their liquidity disappears in the week everyone needs it, as in March 2022.
- Kilwa Atlas No. 1 · 30 August 2026Kilwa Atlas No. 1: AI Infrastructure & Sovereign Compute
Tier · Demand market, power-bound
Large user bases the grid cannot yet serve at compute scale. Nigeria solves with captive gas; Kenya must restructure around its geothermal park. Back gas-to-compute joint ventures with take-or-pay fuel supply; watch the Okaria restructuring as the signal for round two.
- Macro Research No. 1 · August 2026The Four Percent Trap
Tier · Elevatedscore 43
The trap's investable edge. Two or more takeoff ingredients present, the missing ones named and mostly dated. This is where the score moves fastest in both directions.
- Geopolitical Risk No. 3 · 30 July 2026The Exit Door
Tier · Elevatedscore 40
Reformed or reforming, with the record still inside the five-year window. This is where the normalisation trade lives and where it can reverse.
- Geopolitical Risk No. 5 · 30 July 2026The Permission Layer
Tier · Elevatedscore 46
Rules being written now. This tier moves fastest in both directions and is where a single statute changes the investment case.
- Capital Risk · 15 July 2026The Missing Market
Tier · Elevatedscore 50
The NDF five and the bespoke belt. Cover is real, expensive and episodic. Ladder it, do not assume it.
- Capital Risk · 15 July 2026The Long Hold
Tier · Moderatescore 35
Where the 81 exits actually happened. Multiple doors, domestic buyers, and the continent's only real IPO window.
Each row reproduces the tier and any score the report prints for Nigeria, with that report’s own description of the tier. Reports are listed newest first. The full model, inputs and robustness testing sit in each report.

Questions we are asked
Nigeria, in five answers.
- Where does Nigeria sit in Kilwa Atlas No. 5?
- As of 4 September 2026, Kilwa Atlas No. 5 reads Nigeria at 53.1 on structure and 83.1 on timing, above the 54-market structure median of 48.5 and above the timing median of 55.2, which places it in the "High conviction" quadrant. Both reads are structured rankings built from cited series, not validated predictive models.
- Does Kilwa cover Nigeria in its critical minerals research?
- Yes. Minerals Signal No. 1 (14 September 2026) screens all 54 markets and places Nigeria in the Watch tier: real potential constrained by access, governance or security. The tier is a structural characterisation, not a score; the ten numeric deep dives are named in the report.
- How many Kilwa reports score or discuss Nigeria?
- 11 published Kilwa reports place Nigeria in a named tier or quadrant, and 4 Africa Signal Check editions mention it. Each is listed on this page with its date and linked to the report, which remains the source.
- How large is Nigeria's economy, and how fast is it growing?
- The World Bank puts Nigeria's GDP at US$ 290.8 billion in 2025 (US$ 1,224 per person, lower middle income). The IMF's World Economic Outlook, April 2026 estimates real growth of 4.0% in 2025 and projects 4.1% in 2026, with inflation at 16.0% and general government gross debt at 32.3% of GDP. Figures are the World Bank's and the IMF's, reproduced with attribution; the projections are the IMF's, not Kilwa's.
- Can Kilwa produce a Nigeria-specific view for our mandate?
- Yes. The reads on this page are published for general circulation and are not tailored to any recipient. Kilwa's advisory services take a mandate-specific brief on capital allocation, risk and regulatory intelligence, market entry and sovereign capital, and an engagement is scoped from the services page. Research is analysis, not investment, legal or tax advice.
Work with Kilwa
The reads are published. The Nigeria view for your mandate is not.
Scope an engagement and the same evidence standard is applied to your decision: capital allocation, market entry, risk and regulatory intelligence, or sovereign capital.
This page indexes research and analysis published by Kilwa Technologies. It is not investment, legal or tax advice, is prepared for general circulation and is not tailored to any recipient. Kilwa scores are structured risk rankings, not validated predictive models, except where a report explicitly states otherwise.
